Long Overdue Update

Wow, I can't believe it's been almost four months since our last post. As I look back on those months, though, I can see why. We have been BUSY - too busy, actually.

Our riding came to almost a screeching halt, which was kind of a shock for us. Within four days of our return, Gerry was back in his classroom preparing for classes to start the next week.

Then we had Jason and Melissa's wedding to focus on for September 19. The bride was beautiful and the groom was beaming!

We also jumped right back into ministry: church, Bible studies, elders' meetings, discipleship and mentoring, etc. I started into three Bible studies, then backed off to two.

I made a trip to Milwaukee to pick up and drive home our "new" van (from Gerry's parents). It's an 11 year old conversion van, and has so much more room than our older one had. It's going to be great for our biking trips, especially with our tandeming friends! (Although, as I drove it home on $4/gallon gas, I was beginning to wonder. We can only hope that fuel prices stay lower for next summer.)

Gerry was able to ride his single bike to work quite a bit over the fall and I tried to do all my errands in town on my bike (It's amazing how many groceries you can get into a backpack and trunk pack. And it doesn't take long to find the best streets in town for riding.). We've made several 30-40 mile trips around the valley, and a couple up to Hyalite Resevoir.(A great ride, by the way: from our house, it's 17 miles up. But then it's 17 miles down! Whoo hoo!) Our last tandem ride was November 29 and my last single ride was December 11; that's when the snow hit our area for good. We finished out the year with 4640 tandem miles and enough miles on our single bikes to push us both over 5000. But now we're confined to the treadmill, the trainer and some occasional cross country skiing until the roads clear.

We did a presentation of our bike trip at the school in October. Then, as we anticipated our granddaughter's December arrival, of course I had to get busy and make some special 'welcome gifts' from "Grammy".

Before we knew it, Thanksgiving was here and then, poof! it was Christmas time.
We literally ended the year with great praise and rejoicing as baby Paeton Breeze made her entry into our world on New Year's Eve! And she's beautiful! (We saw her on Skype.) Mommy Monica and baby are doing well and Daddy Josh adores her.

It was a great year for us, blessed in abundance so many times over! How many people get to experience all that we have in just one year? A dream bike trip, announcement of a grandchild coming, son's engagement, a new daughter-in-law, a "new" vehicle, watching God work in the lives of young people as we mentor, a new granddaughter. We're overwhelmed with gratitude to our Lord.

We have no idea what 2009 will hold but we are thankful that we intimately know Him who holds and controls it all. To Him be all praise and glory!

yes, I would say you were busy! So fun, we went out with Jason and Melissa last night and I was wanting to see some wedding photos and there they are! And, we got to see Payton(already forgot spelling!) on Jason's phone. I first saw a lot of her mommy in that little face:) It was wonderful to see you and look forward to more posts.
