After the rains of the weekend, this morning dawned clear and sunny and cool - perfect for riding. We left about 8:00, heading south.

When we first started, I was feeling my knee and was a bit concerned about how it was going to hold up. I tried to not put a lot of pressure on it. After we stopped for the break, it started feeling better.

We rode on down 80, past the Ocean Spray plant at Babcock. There were some military jets doing maneuvers in this area, probably for a show this weekend. It was great when, at one point, one of them came right over us from behind. I could feel the reverberation deep inside my chest as he passed over.

The stretch of road along here, next to the Necedah Wildlife Preserve, was at least 10 straight miles. Nothing to look at but trees. Oh, and the porcupine that waddled across the road in front of us. He was so nonchalant about it, even ignoring me when I said something to him. When we got to Arkdale, we realized that the campground we thought was there – wasn’t. There really wasn’t anything there. So we rode on through to the intersection with hwy 13, thinking we’d probably be staying at Roche a Cri state park, which doesn’t have showers. But we saw the Inn of the Pines motel and Gerry opted for that, mostly because he'd been feeling his back today.

So, though there wasn't much happening today, it was a good day to ride. And I was so grateful that my knee was feeling better.

Cruising again,

Gerry and Pat
