On a 64 mile day, how can we have an average that's almost 3 mph less than our average on a 108 mile day? It's not hard at our age and the 108 mile day was the previous day. And when we're riding north into a 15-20 mph north wind.
We had thought that we'd be taking today off because the weather forecast was for rain today. We did get the severe thunderstorms during the night. The lightning woke me first, then later a thunder clap that sounded like it was right outside the door made us both jump.
But the weather cleared and we made the decision to go after my doctor appointment. Clouds had moved in by the time we got my prescription but they weren't threatening. We left town at 11:00.
When clouds move, that typically means there's wind. And today's was from the north... where we were headed. What else is there to say?
Looks great, huh? What you don't see is the wind that pushed at us all day. Having a wind like this makes a 64 mile day feel like a 100 mile day. The other thing about this picture is that we didn't have nice roads like this all day.
I don't have many pictures for today because I spent most of the day watching my mirror or hunkered down pedaling. This is mostly what I saw.
So, all that to say that tomorrow we're staying put to recover.
Oh, the doctor appointment. She said both ears are filled with fluid behind the eardrums, most likely from allergies. Evidently, this is high allergy season for TX, OK, and KS. Who knew. A prescription and some OTC remedies should clear it up in a week or so. I look forward to being able to hear again.
Sorry, no favorite names today.
"Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, my soul, and forgot not all his benefits--
who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's."
Psalm 103:1-5
We thank you with GREAT appreciation for your prayer.

Makes me wonder if you have had allergies in your "deaf" ear all this time?? Will be interesting to see. Make sure you try to eat a lot of yogurt, cuz those antibiotics will kill your good "pro" biotics!!
