Day 32 Day Off in Grafton, ND

What does one do on a day off? When it's rainy?
Pretty much nothing but rest. And it was great!

With some worship music playing, we spent time in prayer and on our Scripture memory passages. Gerry is through Philippians 2 and I am into Romans 6.

Some of the Summerfest activities were about two blocks from us and the weather channel said there would be a couple hours between rains. We headed over to the Heritage Village to see what was going on there.

There was a flash flood warning for Grafton last night and tv had video of water 18" deep in the streets, so it was no surprise that the Heritage Village was soggy. There was supposed to be free carousel rides for kids (I think I could've talked them into letting a Grammy on, don't you?), but all the standing water kept them from opening it.

Part of Heritage Village is a little section called "Jugtown", a row of little buildings that were built by Uncle Sig, a bachelor, to house all his antique collections.
There was a little schoolhouse, chapel, saloon, doctor's office, general store, millinary and law office. A couple of the interiors made us smile.
Look closely at the granny on the exam table,
she's a big homemade stuffed doll.
I couldn't decide if this nurse is startled
or trying to be a runway model.
Is this what you'd call "a flower bed"?
(Notice the standing water behind it?)

Most of the Summerfest activities are taking place downtown which is about a mile from where we're staying. Gerry's shin has been very tender and sore, so he didn't feel that it would be a good idea to walk that far. Besides, the clouds were ominously gathering again, so we walked back to our room.

If you're in Bozeman, you've been experiencing a lot of coolness and rain, maybe a bit more than usual. If you've been watching weather across the Midwest at all, you've seen a lot of severe thunderstorms, rain and tornadoes. We've been riding through or near those for a large portion of this trip.

According to the weather channel, the next days look to be the same. Tomorrow we forge on to the north, hoping to get to shelter before the t-storms hit again. The positive part is that we should, once again, have some tailwind. But when we turn back, that same wind will not be our friend.

Tomorrow, with God's strength and watchcare, we will reach the border. That's right....Canada!!

Please pray:
- Protection on two lane roads. There will be about 30 miles of no shoulder.
- Physical strength.
- Healing for Gerry's shin.

"Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

Upheld,
Pat

We are loving your posts, pictures, and updates. So thankful that God has been keeping you safe and given you the cooler weather for travel. We are praying for Gerry's shin to heal quickly and maybe with some warmer weather on the way it will do just that....same with your ears Pat. Keep on pedaling...you are over the midway hump!!!
