That pretty much describes today. Well, add rainy. And there you have it.
Gerry was still not feeling well this morning so he rested while I walked to the laundromat. It wasn't raining yet so was a good time to go.
It was about a mile walk, which was interesting when I had to turn into the wind. At one point a gust literally stopped me in midstride with my foot in the air! Made me laugh out loud.
Cavalier is a small town of 1200, with a small motel, three small cafes, a small bar ("Ugly's Tavern"), a few other small businesses, and a small laundromat.
I love that all it says on the front is "Laundromat".
Laundromats have change machines, right? Nope, not this one. So, I turned around and walked back a quarter mile to the grocery store for quarters. Then I walked back into the wind to the laundromat. Hey, it's good exercise.
My reading material while waiting was a 2010 Woman's Day with articles about technology, obesity and midlife depression (The best page in there was the ad for barbecue chicken pizza.), a 2012 People magazine (drivel), a 2011 Martha Stewart Living (anyone want to feel inferior?) and some old Better Homes & Gardens.
Another unique thing about small towns is their personal nature. One of the tv channels here is a community calendar and these were some of my favorite notifications.
I liked this one best. ;o)
(The funniest thing about this is that....
I was watching it!)
My son called this afternoon and it was good to hear a familiar family voice.
Gerry felt better by evening so we walked down the hall and around the corner to the little restaurant to have our "celebration" dinner. I'm thinking our celebration dinner when we reach home will be somewhat more exciting.
We're planning to leave in the morning to head straight south on hwy 18. They've been saying the wind will be from the northwest, which will help some. But there's a high possibility that there will be rain with it. Unless it's a driving rain, we'll probably press on. The forced days off in Grafton and here have put us two days behind and we're wanting to get going again.
"..can't wait to get on the road again",
Pat
